Nov. 23, 1933-Sept. 7, 2017

Patricia Jaehnig was born on Nov. 23, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri. Along with her parents, Earl and Jean Davis, her sister, Deanne, and her brother, Gary, she lived in Joplin, MO. The family to move to San Diego to be near an aunt and where Earl would be able to find work in a nearby aircraft factory. However, as WWII ended so did the job opportunities. Pat and her family once again found themselves moving north in search of work, this time to Red Crest in Humboldt County. Here, Earl was hired on as a logging truck driver. He would eventually go to work for the Pacific Lumber Company in Scotia.
As a young girl, Pat attended a one-room schoolhouse in Holmes and continued on to Fortuna Union High School. She enjoyed high school, majoring in business courses and spending time with her many friends. After high school, she found a job in the office at the Pacific Lumber Company in Scotia.
Pat met her husband, Garth, at dances around the area and married him when she was 19. He brought her to San Luis Obispo where he was attending college. They lived in a small trailer and during their second year there, they had their first child, Garth. The family of three moved to Vallejo, CA where Garth took a job teaching Jr. High math. The next year, their second son, Mark, was born. The next couple of years called for a new teaching job in Hayward, the purchase of a new house in Fremont, and the birth of their daughter, Karen. Fremont would be their home for 57 amazing years.
Pat spent her life supporting her husband and family. She was also a volunteer in the Women's League and she had two jobs outside the home. She worked part-time as an assistant for an architect when the children were little and as they became more independent, she went to work in the payroll department of Jack in the Box. Pat and Garth enjoyed their life at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. They raised their children in the church and still feel a strong community with the people there. Pat was a Sunday School Secretary, she worked for years with the Alter Guild, was a wedding planner for couples getting married and pitched in whenever help was needed.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister. She leaves her husband of 64 years as well as their three children, Garth (Vicky), Mark and Karen. They have six grandchildren, Ashley (Gabe), Garth (Samantha), Brad (Amy), Sean (Elyse), Leanna, and Aimee and 3.5 great-grandchildren, Aryia, Sawyer, Levi and one on the way. Pat and Garth have had many amazing adventures together. Pat was in her 40's when she learned to ski. She and her husband have traveled to many corners of the world including Australia, South America, Alaska, Canada, Asia, Europe and all over the US. She really treasured her time with her husband and family and lived life to the fullest.
